Spectrum members participated in three Harmony Project events in 2006-2007. The Harmony Project consists of several Archdiocesan and private schools who have joined together to increase awareness, open communication and share life experiences to promote inclusiveness, and peace and justice around our community. Students participate in theater presentations, diversity overnights, masses and conferences which all include open discussion groups amongst the students. |

The third Multicultural dinner was hosted in December by Visitation and the Diversity Committee. Families shared holiday customs and international cuisine. |

"Cultivating Our Cultures as We Grow," an all school diversity event began with International Day for Toddler through 12th grade students and culminated with evening performances by 4th and 5th grade students to French music and an Indian dance performance by Upper School students. Several students described their ethnic attire and all enjoyed cuisine from many continents. |

The Diversity Committee co-sponsored a sixth grade basketball tournament to increase exposure of Visitation Academy to a more diverse population. Eight new select teams participated in the tournament. |

Independent Schools of St. Louis Diversity Meeting was hosted by Visitation in March. Open discussion based on the National Association of Independent Schools Principles of Equity and Justice with approximately 30 participants from ISSL schools present. |

"Long Road to Freedom" was presented to the Lower School by the Metro Theater Company. "It is a story of two strong women whose lives were bound together by the Underground Railroad. It is a beautiful call to action. It is a challenge for all of us to accept the responsibility for what we can do to make the world a better place." |
