Crescent Dinner Welcomes New Families

On Tuesday, August 31, more than 300 members of the Visitation community gathered for the Academy's annual Crescent Dinner - a Viz tradition designed to welcome all students and families who are new to the Upper School.

The Upper School opened its doors to more than 100 new students this fall, including those 7th graders who were enrolled in Visitation's Lower School last year.

After enjoying a dinner with parents, faculty, staff, administrators and the Sisters, the new Upper School students attended a Crescent Ceremony in Visitation's chapel. Each student received a blessed Bible and a small crescent to commemorate the start of their journey through Visitation's Upper School.

A larger crescent eventually is bestowed on each Visitation Academy graduate as a sign of hope for her future. Every alumna goes on to receive a silver crescent at her 25-year reunion and a golden full moon at her 50-year reunion - both of which signify her continued growth in wisdom, grace, maturity, and Salesian spirituality

Last week, parents of students in Grades 7-12 had an opportunity to visit with their daughters' teachers at Upper School Back to School Night. The Academy will continue to welcome parents back to campus with a Lower School Back to School Night this evening (September 2) at 7 p.m.
