Montessori Education Benefits
Children are natural-born learners – and our goal at Visitation Academy is to engage their curiosity. A Montessori education fosters independence and a love for learning within a multi-age classroom environment. Students make their own work choices and, in turn, discover independent learning and exploration.
The benefits of choosing a Montessori education at Visitation Academy are numerous:
- Every teacher is Montessori certified – and there are two per classroom.
- Students participate daily in physical education, music and French; they also regularly use the Academy’s dedicated Lower School Library.
- Mixed-age classrooms foster interaction among peers and help teach older students how to lead by example.
- Children are able to progress at their own pace and work independently; teachers follow the lead of the students and allow them to make their own choices.
- The Academy’s Montessori classrooms are large and open directly to green space; our students also have access to a separate Montessori gymnasium.
- Development centers around five main classroom areas: practical life, sensorial, mathematics, cultural, and language.
- As one of the first Montessori programs in St. Louis, Visitation Academy has a long-standing reputation for providing excellence in Montessori education.
