PERFORMING: Drama

UPPER SCHOOL

ANNUAL MAJOR PRODUCTION November

All students in Grades 7-12 may audition for this production each May. Shows vary, ranging from plays by Shakespeare, Moliere, Wilde and Simon to musicals such as “Godspell,” “Kiss Me Kate,” “Brigadoon,” “Camelot” and “Sound of Music.”

MONTAGE
An Evening of Three One-Act Comedies
February l

This production is required for all students in drama courses, Grades 10-12. Montage is part of the drama courses and guarantees every student a role in the production. Each class rehearses and performs a different one-act comedy.

THE SENIOR SPOTLIGHT SHOW

April

This production is put together by the Senior College Credit Drama Class with the assistance of the instructor. Students explore a variety of potential performance materials ranging from classical to contemporary, serious to humorous, theatrical to musical. Materials are selected as part of the chosen theme of the show, creating a unified production that moves beyond a simple variety show format. For example, the 1997 performance “Transformations” included material from “Othello,” Jerry Seinfeld, “Les Miserables,” “A Chorus Line” and children’s literature.
