On Saturday, June 5, Visitation Academy captured the Class 2 Missouri state soccer championship in a thrilling 5-3 victory over Notre Dame - St. Louis.
L. Harlan scored Visitation's initial goal during the first half, keeping the Vivettes in the game.
At halftime, Viz trailed the Notre Dame rebels by one - but the Vivettes rebounded with an incredible four goals in the second half.
C. Young tied the game early in the half, and another goal by J. Klump gave Viz a momentary lead. Notre Dame bounced back soon after, turning the match into a tense 3-3 tie.
E. Bumb later broke the tie on an assist from H. Press, and J. Klump further ensured a Viz victory by scoring another goal with less than three minutes left to play.
The Vivettes advanced to the title match after defeating Platte County 1-0 on Friday afternoon. J. Klump scored off of a rebound in the second half, and Viz goalkeeper K. Keister managed to hold off the Pirates for the remainder of that game.
Viz finishes its championship run with a 19-7 record this season. The entire Visitation community congratulates the team and its coaches on their outstanding accomplishment.
