Upper School

The Upper School at Visitation Academy offers the following comprehensive counseling program by grade level:

Grade 7

  • Owning Up (TM) Curriculum
  • Individual counseling check-in meetings
  • As-needed meetings with counselors
  • CTP-IV standardized testing in the fall
  • Grade 7 Parent Night (focus on transitioning to the Upper School and on technology)

Grade 8

  • Owning Up (TM) Curriculum
  • Individual counseling check-in meetings
  • As-needed meetings with counselors
  • CTP-IV standardized testing in the fall

Grade 9

  • Owning Up (TM) Curriculum
  • Individual counseling check-in meetings (focus on standardized testing results and career & college planning)
  • As-needed meetings with counselor
  • PLAN testing in October

Grade 10

  • Introduction to the Naviance college search program
  • Individual counseling check-in meetings (spring meeting focuses on standardized testing results and career & college planning)
  • "Strong Interest" inventory and "Do What You Are" personality inventory administered to assist in career planning
  • As-needed meetings with counselors
  • PLAN and PSAT testing in October
  • Grade 10 Parent Night (registration information, explanation of Advanced Placement and college credit courses)

Grade 11

  • Individual counseling check-in meeting
  • Spring college planning meeting with student and parents
  • As-needed meetings with counselors
  • PSAT testing in October
  • Junior College Information Night in November (for parents and students)

Grade 12

  • Fall individual counseling check-in meeting (focus on on college applications)
  • Bi-weekly meetings with college advisory group
  • As-needed meetings with counselors
  • Senior College Night in December (for parents and students; focus on financial aid and competitive college information)
