The Toledo Nun Series

The artist's inspiration:

"From Georgetown, four sisters and a novice came to Toledo in 1915,
transitioning from an academy to solely contemplative. For the mother foundress of the Toledo Monastery in 1918, Mother Mary Agnes, the rhythm of Visitation life centered around the Sacred Heart, the Eucharist, a hidden life of love of God and charity toward the neighbor.

I see that same common thread at each and every Visitation monastery and community. It is a spirit of self-sacrifice and peaceful surrender to the will of God. It permeates and lives as a testimony of humility, prayer, and deep union with the Beloved. As they truly live their motto ‘’to be a gentle presence in a violent world," we all are truly blessed by their presence here on this earth."
