All the Buzz

A team of Viz science students – the Viz Beez - competed at the St. Louis Area Brain Bee (SLABB) at Washington University on Saturday, February 25, the largest SLABB to date. While this is an annual competition for high school students that tests knowledge in neuroscience, this was the first opportunity for the ladies of Viz to attend the in-person SLABB.

The Viz Beez received the team award trophy for their solidarity at the event. The students made a great impression and had well-formulated questions for the neurobiology panel. The Beez - 45 students in Grades 9-12 - plan to return stronger than ever next year.

In preparation for the event, Viz hosted its first Viz Bee on Friday, February 24, a traditional bee-style competition to test students' knowledge of all things neurobiology. Congratulations to the Viz Bee winners:

First Place: Junior, Jane Ledbetter
Second Place: Junior, Finley Hercules
Third Place: Freshman, Maeve McMullen
