Crypto Cats at the Capitol

The Crypto Cats, a team of Viz fifth graders Kelsey Herzog, Tess Kramer, Molly Lohse, Idgie Simmons, and Vada Tulyasathien, sponsored by Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri (GSEM), were invited by FIRST in Missouri to present at the 2023 STEM Day at the Capitol on March 2. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a global robotics community preparing young people for the future and the world's leading youth-serving nonprofit advancing STEM education.

The girls demonstrated their robot and discussed their project on grounding with visitors. The team also met with Senator Andrew Koenig to learn details of the legislative process, sat in the upper gallery of the Senate Chambers while the Senate was in session, and toured the Governor's Mansion. Additionally, the Crypto Cats were featured in a video about Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri's partnership with FIRST, shown during the GSEM's Dessert First Gala. Check it out here.
