Montessori students are all aflutter over Monarch butterflies! Students learn all about caterpillars and even raise their own. The classes are able to witness the life cycle of butterflies– from caterpillar to cocoon to butterfly. For a period of about two weeks, the Montessori students feed their class caterpillars lots of milk weed as they wait for the caterpillars to become chrysalises and emerge as butterflies. Once the butterflies are all grown, the students host a butterfly release ceremony and pray for a safe migration of their butterflies to Mexico.
