Celebrating Alumnae in the Arts

Did you know that March is “Theatre in Our Schools” month? To celebrate, Visitation Academy Thespians will be highlighting alumnae all month on their student-run Instagram page, @viztheatre! Check out one of their fun features below:

“Mary Alice Dwyer-Dobbins ’59 had a 37 year career in TV where among many other things, she oversaw the soap operas “All My Children,” “One Life to Live,” “General Hospital” and “Loving.” She was also tasked with turning around the soaps “Guiding Light,” “As the World Turns” and “Another World.” She was Vice President of Programming for the cable channel “Lifetime.” Another fun fact is that she is credited with bringing the “Smurfs” to the United States. Who knew that A Viz alumna was a huge influence in many loved TV shows? And, she still displays her crescent proudly!”

Alex Ferrara ’06 is an actress, singer, model and producer.
Alex is currently performing in NYC with the award winning Musical Theatre cabaret series “Joe Iconis And Family” led by Broadway composer, Joe Iconis. The shows recently earned a write up in the NY Times and you can catch 6 performances this April/May at 54 Below.

Meghan Faddis ‘12 taking her first curtain call of her run with Hamilton in Chicago! Meghan is a “swing,” meaning she is someone who has to be prepared to play any given part at any given time. Congratulations to this Visitation Academy Thespians alumna for working hard to live out her dreams!
