Lots of Firsts at the 2026 Missouri State Thespian Conference
First place honors, that is. Twenty-three Viz thespians attended the 2026 Missouri State Thespian Conference held at Union Station and Stifel Theatre. The conference featured professional theatre workshops, performances, challenges, and competitions, and our tech theatre students achieved great success at the event. The tech challenge team—Lizzy F., Mikayla W., Audrey S., Lila B., and Kayleigh K.—competed in five areas, and here are the results plus other conference highlights.
Lizzy F. - First place in the state for lighting hang and focus.
Mikayla W. and Audrey S. - First place in the state for quick costume change.
Mikayla W. - Second place in the state for button sewing.
Lila B., Kayleigh K., Mikayla W., Audrey S., and Lizzy F. – First place in state for cable relay.
And the team was named the overall Missouri Tech Challenge Champion. Congratulations!
Additionally, Eve T. received the top rating for her marketing plan for Emma, The Pop Musical, and Lizzy F. received the top rating for her stage management portfolio for "Emma, The Pop Musical." Lizzy was also awarded one of only three tech theatre scholarships statewide, based on her presentation of her technical work to a panel of college theatre professors. Very well done!
