Academics

Well-Rounded. Confident. Poised.

The Sisters of the Visitation knew 185+ years ago what today’s researchers have confirmed about the value of a single-sex education. These visionary women recognized that educating girls and young women in a separate, academically ambitious setting empowers them to participate wholly in the academic experience, reach higher potential, and build greater confidence.

Time has proven the Sisters correct. Viz students have a deep passion for learning and are among the region’s highest-achieving students. We continue the Sisters' legacy by offering the area’s only all-girl educational environment in Grades 1-5, a dynamic all-girl Middle School for Grades 6-8, and a challenging, all-girl, college-preparatory Upper School for Grades 9-12.

Viz students thrive in a close-knit school community that promotes collaboration, creativity, and the free-flowing exchange of ideas. Viz is small by design which allows our faculty to know you, your hopes, and your unique abilities. Viz is a place where girls and young women may truly be themselves, free to express their feelings and pursue their interests.

Success in College and Beyond

Our alumnae cite the following benefits from their single-sex education:
  • Greater preparation for the transition from high school to college
  • Increased self-confidence in and out of the classroom
  • Preparation for the “real world”
  • Achievement in male-dominated STEM fields, such as science, technology, engineering, and math
  • Increased likelihood to volunteer in community organizations after graduation
Visitation Academy is an independent, private Catholic school offering a coeducational Montessori preschool and Kindergarten program, the area's only all-girl elementary program for Grades 1-5, and an all-girl middle school and all-girl high school.
