Nancy Colón joined Viz in 2019 as a substitute teacher in the Montessori and Lower School. She now holds the role of Gift and Data Coordinator, handling all facets of information management in the Viz Advancement Office. Nancy maintains the school’s database, records and acknowledges gifts to Viz, produces financial reports, prepares year-end tax statements for donors, and helps with Advancement Office events. Prior to Viz, most of her working years were spent in administrative roles at Harvard, Princeton, and the University of Richmond. While in Virginia, Nancy was involved with AFS Intercultural Programs, a global study abroad program, running seminars for U.S. families who were sending their teens abroad for summer and year programs. Nancy has a Bachelor of Arts degree from American University in Washington, D.C., majoring in International Relations with a double minor in History and German. She also has a Project Management Associate’s Certificate from George Washington University, also in Washington D.C.
Lisa Kohler ’02 joined the Viz Advancement team in 2018 and served as the Director of Development until the summer of 2021 when she assumed her current role of Director of Community Relations. In this capacity, she manages events, parent relations and alumnae relations. Lisa’s primary focus is building relationships within the Viz community to put our charism of love into action. In addition to being an alumnae and charter member of Viz, Lisa also is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the Visitation Associates program. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Loyola University Chicago.
Jenny Lucas joined the Viz family in 2011 in the role of Director of Advancement, and moved to Chief Advancement Officer following the restructuring of the Viz Advancement Department in 2019. In this role, Jenny oversees key areas that support the development and strengthening of constituent relations including admissions and enrollment management, marketing and communications, and fundraising and development. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). Jenny earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on accounting at Washington University in St. Louis. She also holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with an emphasis on corporate law from the St. Louis University School of Law.
Colleen Porter joined the Viz Advancement team in 2019 as Editor and Communications Specialist. In this capacity, she conceives, writes, and edits many of the school’s internal and external communications pieces, including press releases and the school’s printed publication, The Visitor magazine. Prior to joining Viz, she worked in the business-to-business communications and marketing sector, in both an agency and freelance capacity. Colleen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications Management from Missouri State University.
Rachelle Thomas joined the team in the Viz Advancement Department in October 2021 taking on the role of Director of Marketing and Communications. In this capacity, she strategizes and oversees implementation of marketing and communications efforts across the Viz Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools, helping to facilitate consistent messaging and Viz branding on the school website, printed and digital materials, and in all additional promotional opportunities. Rachelle holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in Communications from Missouri State University as well as a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida – Levin College of Law in Gainesville, Florida.
Margaret Conley joined the Visitation Academy family in 2009 as a student and then again in September 2021 as the Administrative Assistant for the Advancement Department. In this position, Margaret helps with the planning, coordination, and execution of many of the school’s community and social events and a variety of fundraising events, including the annual golf tournament and Safari Auction. She also assists with other activities and tasks within the department to help further the mission of the school. Margaret holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Louis University, majoring in Elementary Education. She also has certification in Early Childhood Education.
Tory Lanaghan joined the Viz Advancement team in August 2021 as Digital Content Coordinator. In this position, she creates and distributes official social media content, coordinates website updates, and sends email communications. Prior to joining Viz, Tory worked as a graphic designer for a marketing firm and as a print and digital media specialist for the Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand, Indiana. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations and minors in Creative Writing and Spanish from Murray State University.
