We’re excited to welcome Elizabeth Schwartz as Upper School Principal at Visitation Academy beginning in the 2026–2027 school year! Elizabeth is eager to join our amazing team of educators, dedicated to guiding young women as they discover and develop their unique gifts through scholarship, spirituality, leadership, and service.
Elizabeth’s path to education began in the nonprofit sector, where she spent nearly a decade creating programs and advocating for individuals with disabilities and economic barriers. In 2002, she followed her calling to the classroom, teaching English in the Houston Independent School District before joining Saint Thomas’ Episcopal School in 2007. There, she inspired students through literature, helped many discover a love of reading and writing, and built a classroom community where stories opened doors to self-discovery and leadership.
In 2022, Elizabeth led the creation of a Center for Academic Excellence, developing systems that strengthened student support, enhanced teaching, and improved academic outcomes for the entire school community.
Elizabeth holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a specialization in Literacy and is a certified Reading Specialist. She and her husband, Matt, will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary this November and are proud parents of three daughters who now work in education and nonprofit fields. When she’s not at school, Elizabeth enjoys reading, traveling, gardening, family vacations, and long morning walks.
Please join us in giving Elizabeth a warm Viz welcome!
